The millennial struggle of avocado toast vs homeownership is too real, guys.
Okay, not really, but that is seriously my favorite millennial joke. But the truth is, so many of us are in a hard spot of knowing we’ll never be homeowners. Who knows if we’ll ever be able to get out from all that student loan debt that was thrown at us years before we even knew how to handle money.
The truth is being a millennial isn’t all social media cracks it up to be. From living in apartments that we move from year after year, having crush debt on our backs and the whole issue of somehow our parents forgot to teach us how to #adult.
Thankfully, by the power of the internet and our sharing economy, we’re all struggling through this #adulting together. By talking about our experiences and sharing our tips and tricks, we’ll get through it together!
That’s what Theoretically Home is all about. Helping out other millennials through my own experiences. From apartments with no storage to learning how to navigate financial troubles, Theoretically Home is a space to learn, grow, inspire and create a community.
So who am I?
My name is Sonny Hurtado and I am a twenty-three year old apartment dwelling millennial.
I have seemed to miss nearly all of those crucial #adulting lessons my parents were supposed to teach me, but with the help of my giant husband, Carlito and our sassy cat, Nightmare, we’re figuring it out.
I’ve worn many hats in my short time on earth, including marketing coordinator, barista, illustrator, photographer and incredibly underpaid dirty thrift store worker. But entrepreneurship is in my blood and I’m determined to create a way to make a living through my creative efforts. Blogging, photographer, and illustration are my passion and I’m excited to make them a more meaningful part of my life.
I’m an introvert.
I got married in a cemetery #spooky4life
I’m a college drop out…twice.
I got my first tattoo before the age of 18 completely legally.
I have a Sailor Moon engagement ring.
I’m a Slytherin.
I will make best friends with your dog.
